Preserving a Northwoods Tradition

The Evergreen Lodge is a summer family and fishing resort located on Little Crooked Lake, in the beautiful and secluded Northern Highlands National Forest.  A historical part of Boulder Junction since 1929, the resort has recently been updated. The Lodge building, grounds and some of the cabins have undergone construction to provide improvements while carefully maintaining the classic Northwoods resort experience for guests.

The Evergreen Lodge reopened the summer of 2022, and guests continue to be treated to a hot breakfast daily in the Lodge and the opportunity to relax by the lake or in one of our fully equipped cabins. Boats with motors, kayaks and canoes are available for exploring and fishing Little Crooked , a Class A musky lake. Several docks also allow space for mooring your own boat. At the end of Evergreen Lane, cyclists can pick up the Heart of Vilas County Bike Trail offering riders of all levels 52 miles of paved bike trails through the forest and along the shores of several area lakes.

We are looking forward to hosting your family or group as you reconnect with nature and with each other in Wisconsin’s beautiful Northwoods.

Renovated Cedar Branch Cabin

Inside the new Lodge

Renew

Owners John and Kathy Bils believe in maintaining the Evergreen Lodge’s rich heritage and unique family vacation model while making updates to enhance the property. The original lodge has been rebuilt and some of the cabins have been remodeled. The function, general footprint and character of the lodge building remain the same, but it now features a climate controlled dining and entertainment area for up to 40 people, a three season lakeview porch, a full commercial kitchen and a residence.

Repurpose

Some of the original lodge building’s structural material have been repurposed to maintain its treasured history. The hospitality service area in the lodge features old pine siding accents, a wall covered with the original chimney bricks, and the original check-in desk being repurposed as a food serving counter. The antique refrigerator, which was an original kitchen ice box remains on display in the lodge.

Remember

It began for the Bils family 4th of July weekend 1996, when John (who grew up in IL) suggested that his Florida-living family take a vacation to the Northwoods like he did with his parents and brothers as a boy. After receiving a package of brochures (pre-internet) from the Boulder Junction Chamber of Commerce, Kathy and John chose the Evergreen Lodge. Over more than 20 years, their immediate and extended family have returned each July where rich memories were made and life-long friendships flourished. The Bils purchased the resort from long-time owner and friend, Laurel Malicki in late 2018.

This special place holds deep roots in our hearts and we hope your family or group will create cherished memories here as well.
